For our Fall Ride, we once again took advantage of the great roads just north of New York City, in Bear Mountain, Harriman and Storm King State Parks. The roads in and around Bear Mountain are well-known within the Tri-State motorcycle community, featuring long stretches of switch-backs and on-camber turns. Combined with picturesque fall foliage, the setup was perfect. Riders met at BMW of Manhattan Motorrad, beginning at 8am, for bagels, coffee, and donuts from Dunkin’ Donuts. After meeting and greeting fellow riders, a short Rider’s Meeting covered the route and introduced participating staff. Riders then had the opportunity to spin a prize wheel for a chance to win a pair of BMW Motorrad riding gloves, a BMWNYC Motorrad keychain, or a free bike wash. Kickstands went up at 9:30am.
Led by Motorrad Advisor Anthony Lewis, and Parts Advisor Frank Figueroa, the group of more than 30 motorcycles, snaked up the Palisades Parkway before dipping into Bear Mountain State Park. The route carried the group through Bear Mountain State Park, along 7 Lakes Drive, and into Harriman State Park. The first rest stop took place across the Bear Mountain Bridge, at the base of Route 202. From the rest stop, the group headed back over the Bear Mountain Bridge, and north along 9W. The ride finished up with a blast along Strom King Highway, before terminating at BillyJoe’s Ribworks along the Waterfront in Newburgh, NY. Once there, catered lunch was provided.
Thank you to all who participated in our Fall Ride. We look forward to seeing you in 2018 for our Spring Ride.
